Highway 78 Scotch Ale: Chuck / Jeff / Mitch Blend

BREWED JUNE 23RD, 2011

Brewmaster Mitch Steele, Green Flash’s Chuck Silva and Pizza Port Carlsbad’s Jeff Bagby created this intensely malty brew named after an 18-mile stretch of asphalt uniting our three breweries.

East Kent Goldings Hops, Target Hops and Sucanat Cane Sugar

UNFILTERED AND AGED
20% Highland Malt Whisky Barrels / 40% Islay Malt Whisky Barrels / 40% Lowland Grain Whisky Barrels

CELLAR NOTES
Chuck, Jeff, and Mitch carefully selected 25 of 75 barrels used to age this beer with the goal of blending in a little bit of everything the barrels had to offer. Some produced bitter oaky tones, while others contributed sweet vanilla and maple flavors or earthy smokiness. The result is a complex beer with a perfect harmony of rich flavors.
