As loyal readers of this blog, you undoubtedly remember that our Head Brewer Mitch Steele and Brewmaster Steve Wagner took a cushy paid vacation to Britain back in February, allegedly to research a book they’re writing on IPAs. Well now they’ve gotten down to business; specifically, the business of brewing this summer’s Stone 14th Anniversary Emperial IPA. Unsurprisingly, the trip provided some liquid inspiration for the Anniversary brew. Here’s Mitch and Steve explaining their vision for this most unusual beer:

I got goosebumps watching that tasting. I am the girl who bottles my own IPA in Ruination bottles. Who has a mural on my wine celler floor that includes hops and a painting of a Ruination bottle. I can hardly WAIT! ~L

This is an amazing brew!!!! I just tasted it tonight at the Boston American Craft Beer Fest. I am pretty sure that was Mitch Steele pouring behind the taps. I have been to the brewery/restaurant in Escondido, CA. It makes me want to move to San Diego when I taste this brewers offerings. Keep up the good work.

I've been through (it through me, whatever) two cases so far. Just ordered some more. It is excellent. I enjoy Heavy Sea's "Loose Cannon" and this brew is it's equal or better in my opinion. Shame it is such a limited run.

Ok so when is the 14th Anniversary party going to be?? I was at the 12th and had such a blast. I plan on coming out for a week this time. I still have some of the 8th- 13th Anniversary beers in my beer room along with many other beers of yours I have aging (and enjoying).
